G DATA Business Solutions: Move the update path of the G DATA Management Servers

Sometimes it may be necessary to change the storage directory for program and signature files downloaded from G DATA Management Server. For example, if our designated C:\ drive does not have sufficient capacity, or internal company policies prohibit storing data on the C:\ drive.

It is not possible to swap the signatures to a network drive!

This is how you place the path on a local drive of your choice:

1.

Close G DATA Administrator and stop the G DATA Management Server service.

2.

Copy the Updates folder from the C:\ProgramData\G DATA\AntiVirus ManagementServer directory to the location where you want to place the updates in the future.

3.

Open the config.xml file from the

C:\Program Files (x86)\G DATA\G DATA AntiVirus ManagementServer

directory using a text editor.

4.

Under group Name="Folder" adjust the following entry:

setting name="UpdateDistributionFolder"
type="string"
value="C:\ProgramData\G DATA\AntiVirus ManagementServer\Updates".
Example
setting name="UpdateDistributionFolder" type="string" value="D:\Updates"

5.

Save the changes.

6.

Open the file IUpdateCfg.xml from the directory

C:\Program Files (x86)\G DATA\G DATA AntiVirus ManagementServer

7.

Enter the path you have chosen for BasePath (see point 3).

8.

Save the changes.

9.

Start the G DATA Management Server service. From the next update, the signatures will be stored in the newly defined directory.
