G DATA Business Solutions: The ManagementServer name is inconsistent

This problem occurs when G DATA Management Server has been installed on a new system and a previously used SQL database has been included, or when the name of the system with G DATA Management Server has been changed.

The ManagementServer service does not then start correctly. The error message appears in the event log: "The ManagementServer name is inconsistent". To repair this, call the GData.Business.Server.Cli.exe with the parameter setmmshostname. If the name of your G DATA Management Server has been changed, additional configuration operations will be required on your subnet servers and security clients.

Steps for troubleshooting:

  1. Open a command prompt with administrator permissions.

  2. Browse to the G DATA Management Server program folder
    Default path:

    C:\Program (x86)\G Data\G DATA AntiVirus ManagementServer

  3. Enter the following command:

    GData.Business.Server.Cli.exe setmmshostname

  4. Start the G DATA Management Server service via the service administration.
