What is the 3-level system?

The security awareness training in the G DATA Academy is completed in three levels that build on each other. Learners start with the fundamentals in Level 1: What exactly is covered by the topic of cybersecurity?

In Level 2, they build more specialized knowledge: How does cybersecurity affect me in my day-to-day work?

In Level 3 (the final level of the new structure), the focus is on in-depth knowledge about malware, attack vectors, and the best protection.

What are the benefits of the 3-level system?

Learners’ knowledge is built up step by step, so that they are not overwhelmed by too much training at once. Advancement from Basic to Advanced and Master increases learners’ motivation because it gives them a sense of achievement and confirmation that they have completed a level. The additional Awareness Booster provides sustainable reinforcement and can also serve as a quick reference. “Learning on the job” is the key term here. Because these are very short units of 2 to 5 minutes that can be selected voluntarily, there is no pressure on learners.

What impact does the transition to the 3-level system have?

After activation, the 3-level system Dashboard is available to learners. This is where the training courses are completed within the individual levels.

Note for organizations with existing learning plans! Please note that the previous progress in existing learning plans for employees is neither reset nor carried over as a result of the transition. Old learning plans can then be found in the user menu under "My courses and learning plans".

How do I switch to the new 3-level system learning concept?

This guide is only relevant for organizations that worked with existing learning plans before the introduction of the current 3-level system.

If you would like to transition existing learning concepts to the 3-level system, please note that existing progress will not be carried over to the new learning journey. We therefore recommend performing the transition only after completing ongoing learning plans.

The transition is carried out in three steps:

  1. Contact Support: Inform our Support team that you would like to perform the transition. You can find the contact details in the Admin Dashboard (training-support@gdata.de).

  2. Have the transition enabled: Our team activates the transition option in your LMS.

  3. Assign the learning plan: Then assign the Cyber Defense Awareness Journey to learners via user management.

Where can users find courses purchased as add-on packages in the 3-level system?

Additional content—such as supplementary training series or internal briefings—is displayed on the learners’ home screen below the content of the level currently in progress.

These courses are independent of progress within the 3-level system and are not assigned to Levels 1 through 3.

What happens to the remaining and individual learning plans after the transition to the 3-level system?

Existing learning plans remain available. Learners can find them in the user menu under My courses and learning plans and can continue to access content there.

However, existing and individual learning plans are not part of progress within the 3-level system.
