Program update with the following changes:

Optimized sender allowlist

Previously, senders could only be allowlisted for spam detection. Now, emails from allowlisted senders are always delivered.

Emails from senders on the allowlist are now also no longer checked for malware.

Change to spam filter control

The spam filter can now be enabled only when the URL filter is enabled, because an important factor for the detection of spam is checking the URLs.

New MIME type filter

  • MIME type filter option for the file filter:

    • Easy definition of allowed/blocked file types

    • Maximum file size – specify from which file size files should be moved to quarantine automatically.

    • Helpful examples are displayed if no filter is defined.

Program update with the following changes:

Configuration and navigation in the portal:

  • On the Review page of mail server configuration (see item 9), you can now select an email address for the test email from a drop-down list of imported users.

  • The option to enable/disable domains was removed.
Each verified domain of a mail server now counts as enabled.

Incoming external emails to users whose domain was not previously enabled are scanned. Scans of internal emails are disabled by default for these users. This prevents scans from starting in mailboxes that should not be scanned even before this change.

  • The check behavior for incoming emails (external emails), the rescan (internal emails), and the globally enabled status messages can now be configured on a per-user basis.

  • You can now use the Dashboard tiles Emails in quarantine, protected mail servers, protected domains Domains, and protected users to navigate directly to the relevant detail area.

  • A permissions check for G DATA 365 | Mail Protection was added in the server settings.
If not all required permissions for G DATA 365 | Mail Protection are present in Exchange Online, you will see which permissions still need to be set in Exchange Online.

Changes to G DATA 365 | Mail Protection quarantine

  • Change in how infected emails are handled:
Previously, infected emails that had already been delivered were moved to a hidden folder in the user’s mailbox. This mainly applied to internal emails between employees. A disadvantage of this procedure was that infected emails could be found via Outlook search.
Therefore, infected emails are now deleted from the user’s mailbox and moved to G DATA 365 quarantine. If such an email is released again by an administrator, the user receives a newly created email with the original email as an attachment.

  • A button was added on the quarantine details page that allows blocked URLs to be conveniently added to the allowlist.

  • A new User column was added to the overview on the quarantine details page. This makes the original recipient of the email moved to quarantine immediately recognizable.
