An email is considered opened when images in the email are loaded (as with marketing newsletters), or when a link or attachment in the email is opened. False positives are possible if, for example, automatic loading of images is enabled in the email client or the email is automatically moved into a folder. Viewing the email in the preview pane is not counted.
