The G DATA Passwort Manager

With the password manager, you no longer have to manage your various passwords yourself in a list or remember them. The G DATA Passwort Manager enables you to work with cryptic and thus extremely secure passwords. With just one click, the application fills in passwords and contact details for you and you save valuable time. If you get to a fake website and try to enter your data there with the password manager, this will fail. This way you are protected from the theft of your data.

Simply add G DATA Passwort Manager as a plug-in to your browser and from now on you can access your password safe with just one key.

The G DATA Passwort Manager supports the following browsers in the latest generation:

  • Google Chrome

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer

First create a password safe and then install the plug-in for the browser of your choice. You can install the password safe on all compatible browsers. Your passwords are encrypted using the 3DS encryption method.

Please note that depending on the settings of your browser (e.g. data protection settings), the functionality of the G DATA Passwort Manager may be limited.

Create new password safe and install plug-in

Click on the entry Password safe. Now a dialogue opens in which you can create a new password safe by selecting "Create new safe".

To do this, enter a password, confirm it, click on Create safe and the safe is created. The reminder phrase can help you to remember a forgotten password.

Now the safe is created and you can select on the right-hand side of the programme window in which browsers you would like to install the Password Manager plug-In. Simply click on the respective browser and the plug-in will be installed.

The next time you open the browser, you may be asked whether you want to use the new plug-in. Please confirm this for the G DATA Passwort Manager.

Now you will find this icon pwm icon in the taskbar of the browser. Click on the icon to use the password manager.

Please note that depending on the privacy setting (e.g. history), the use of the plug-in is is not possible. In case of problems with the plug-in, please check the settings of your browser first.

Using the browser plug-in

After clicking on this symbol pwm icon in the task bar of the browser, a dialogue to unlock the plug-in opens. To do this, enter the password and then click on Unlock.

You will then see the user interface of the password manager plug-in.

  • pwm fav icon Favourites: This function enables you to quickly access the password-protected websites that you use regularly.

  • pwm login icon Logins: This is where you manage the logins for password-protected websites.

  • pwm contact icon Contacts: With the help of the contact data entered here, forms, such as delivery addresses, can be filled out automatically.

  • pwm note icon Notes: Here you can save additional notes that are then password protected.

  • pwm settings icon Settings: In order to close the G DATA Passwort Manager again, please click click on Lock here. When you click on Settings, you can manage favourites, logins, contacts and notes conveniently in dialogue boxes. Using the password generator, you can have a secure password created automatically and use it directly via the clipboard.

In the G DATA Passwort Manager administration you can add, edit and delete new entries as follows.

  • pwm new entry icon New entry: By clicking this button you can create a new entry and enter all necessary data in the respective dialogue fields for logins, contacts or notes.

  • pwm save entry icon Save entry: Clicking this button saves the entry is saved and then also appears in the quick selection of the browser plug-in.

  • pwm delete entry icon Delete entry: This deletes entries that you no longer need.
