How can I permit connections?

This article shows you how to permit connections in the G DATA Firewall. There are two basic ways to do this: Release via the application radar and release via the protocol page.

Unblocking connections for apps via the application radar

1

Click on the Firewall symbol in the G DATA Security Center. Here you will see under the item "Application Radar" how many applications are blocked.

In some cases, it may be necessary to carry out the unblocking via the protocol page.

Unblocking connections for apps via protocol

1

Click on the protocol icon on the right-hand side to open the protocol page of the firewall.

2

Click the button Delete all in the lower area and confirm the following prompt with Yes.

3

Run the application you want to unblock from the firewall.

4

Switch back to the protocol page and refresh the display with the F5 key. Now you should see connections displayed.

Steps two and three are not mandatory, but the overview on the protocol page can contain a very large number of entries, making it difficult to quickly find the application you are looking for. The recommended process makes it easier to locate it.

5

In the "Application" column, look for the program executed in step 2, which is marked with a red forbidden sign.

It may be necessary to restart the unlocked application. After you have done this, it should be possible for the app to connect to the Internet.
