Installing and activating MSA Premium via the Google Play Store

To install MSA Premium via the Google Play Store, you can either purchase the license directly from the Google Play Store or use a license from the G DATA Shop. In this chapter, you will learn how to proceed.

Option 1: You want to buy the license from Google Play Store

This is how you install and activate MSA Premium via the Google Play Store:

①	On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and search for the "G DATA Mobile Security".

Purchase the license by clicking the corresponding button and then follow the instructions to buy the license and install the app. This process has a different flow depending on the payment method.

Once MSA has been downloaded and installed, you can open the app.

Open the app.

Optionally, check the two checkboxes.
Accept the End-user license agreement and Privacy policy by tapping Accept & Continue.

The app opens and you will now first receive an introduction to the functionalities of the app, through which you will be guided. At the end of the introduction, you will see the following message:

Tap Allow. If you do not allow the app to access the media, functions of the app - for example, virus scanning - cannot be performed.

The app will now automatically start a virus scan on your Android device.

You have completed the installation.

Option 2: You want to use a license from the G DATA Shop (access data) in the Google Play Store

If you already have a G DATA license, there is a way to download the Premium version without paying for the version in the Google Play Store again. To do this, you need to install the light version and enter your credentials. Based on your credentials, the app recognizes that you have a license and unlocks the features of the Premium version for you, even though you have the Light version installed.

This is how you do it:

①	If you do not have a license yet, first buy one in the G DATA Shop at https://www.gdata.de/shop. After purchasing, you will receive an email with access data that you will need in the further process.

On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and search for "G DATA Mobile Security Light".

Yes, that’s right: You have to install the Light version here to get the Premium version. This is because the Google Play Store does not allow external licenses. As soon as you enter the access data later on, all the features of the premium version will be unlocked for you.

Tap Install.

MSA Light will be downloaded and installed.

Open the app.

Optionally, set the checkmarks in the two checkboxes.
Tap Accept & Continue. This means you accept the End user license agreement and the Privacy policy.

Tap Log in with access data.

Enter your username and password. Then tap Log in.

The app opens and you will now first receive an introduction to the functionalities of the app, through which you will be guided. At the end of the introduction, you will see the following message:

If you have a valid license, you will get full access to the features of the Premium version. If your license has expired, you will get the limited features of the Light version.
