Installing and activating MSA Premium via APK

We recommend that you always install MSA via the Google Play Store, so that you can install all updates despite a running license and thus always have an up-to-date app version.

If you have a license key, you can activate it. You will then receive access data via email, which you can also use to install G DATA Mobile Security via the Google Play Store. You can activate your license key at https://www.gdatasoftware.com/product-activation or alternatively call us at +32 028 083 321.

If you do not want to install via the Google Play Store, you can download the APK yourself and install it manually. You will need either a license from the G DATA Shop (access data) or a valid license key.

Option 1: You would like to use a license from the G DATA Shop (access data)

This is how you install MSA via APK and activate it with credentials:

Go to https://www.gdata.de/downloads and search for "G DATA Mobile Security for Android".

Tap full version.

A warning message is displayed.

Tap Download anyway.

The file will be downloaded.

Tap Open.

If your Android settings do not allow apps from unknown sources to be installed, the following warning message appears:

Tap on Settings.

The settings open.

  • Move the slider at Allow from this source to the right so that the installation can be performed.

  • Go back to the installation via the blue arrow.

Tap Install to install the app now.

The app will now be installed.

To activate the app, tap Open now.

  • Optionally, check the two checkboxes.

  • Accept the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy by tapping Accept and Continue.

Tap Log in with access data.

Enter your user name and password. Then tap Log in.

The app opens and you will now first receive an introduction to the functionalities of the app, through which you will be guided. At the end of the introduction, you will see the following message:

Tap Allow. If you do not allow the app to access the media, functions of the app - for example, virus scanning - cannot be performed.

The app will now automatically start a virus scan on your Android device.

You have completed the installation.

If you have a valid license, you will get full access to the features of the Premium version. If your license has expired, you will get the limited features of the Light version.

Option 2: You want to use a license from a store (license key)

You still have the option to buy the G DATA licenses in stores. Then you will receive a license key that you can use to activate the app. With the help of a license key, you can only activate the app if you download the APK/installation file. You can learn how to do this in this section.

If you don’t have a license key yet, you can purchase one during the process described now.

This is how you install MSA via APK and activate it with a license key:

If you want to buy a license key first at this point, tap Purchase a license key now and follow the further instructions. Then return to this screen.

If you have a license key and enter the license key and the required data and tap on Activate.

If you have entered your name and email address here, you will then receive access data by email. With the help of these access data, you can use the license more freely. For example, by deactivating the license on the device and activating it on another device. You can find out how to do this in this instruction.
