The icon from my G DATA Consumer Product has disappeared from the Windows tray
How can I restore the icon?
The icon could merely be hidden. However, if the icon cannot be found, the startup entry has probably been removed. This often happens through so-called tuning programs.
Reinstalling the software will renew the required registry entries of your G DATA software.
Alternatively, the key can also be created manually:
①
To do this, first open the Windows Registry:
-
Windows XP: Click "Start" > "Run" and type "regedit".
-
Windows Vista / 7: Click on "Start" and enter "regedit" in the search line.
-
Windows 8 / 8.1: Call the ModernUI and enter "regedit".
②
Navigate to the folder/key
HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run③
Create the following string in this key:
-
Name: "G DATA Firewall Tray"
-
Value: "C:\Program Files (x86)\G DATA\[Programmname]\Firewall\GDFirewallTray.exe"
"(x86)" is omitted for 32-bit systems!
④
Navigate to the folder/key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\WinlogonAdd here at "Userinit" the additional value "C:\Program Files (x86)\G DATA\[program name]\AVKTray\AVKTray.exe ". Separate this value from previous values with a comma.
Do not delete any existing values under any circumstances!
"(x86)" is omitted for 32-bit systems!
④ Now restart your computer. The tray icon should now be restored.
Please pay attention to both upper and lower case when entering. Do not enter spaces and quotation marks.
Creating a string is possible by right-clicking on the key for which this value is to be created and selecting "New → String".
