How can I upgrade G DATA Mobile Security Android from Lite to Premium?

Upgrade of access data (G DATA website)

If you purchased the premium version via our website, you will receive login details upon completion. Enter these details in G DATA Mobile Security Lite on the Android device you wish to protect. To do this, open the app on your Android device. Open the settings (top left) and tap on the user below the G DATA logo. Enter the updated login details and tap Connect. This should activate the premium version.

Upgrade via Google Play Store

If you want to go directly via the Google Play Store, proceed as follows:

1	On your Android device, open the Google Play Store and search for the "G DATA Mobile Security".
2	Purchase the license by clicking the corresponding button and then follow the instructions to buy the license and install the app. This process has a different flow depending on the payment method. Once MSA has been downloaded and installed, you can open the app.
3	Open the app afterward.
4	Optionally, set the checkmarks in the two checkboxes. Tap Accept & Continue. This means you accept the End User-License Agreement and the Privacy Policy.
5	The app opens, and you will now first receive an introduction to the functionalities of the app, through which you will be guided. At the end of the introduction, you will see a message similar to the one visible in the screenshot. Tap Allow. If you do not allow the app to access the media, functions of the app - for example, virus scanning - cannot be performed.
6	The app will now automatically start a virus scan on your Android device. The installation process is now completed.

Upgrade with license key

If you purchased a license key externally, you must reinstall G DATA Mobile Security Android using APK installation. First, uninstall the app. Afterward proceed as follows:

Go to https://www.gdata.de/downloads and search for "G DATA Mobile Security for Android".

A warning message is displayed.

If your Android settings do not allow unknown apps to be installed, you will see a message similar to the one visible in the screenshot.

The settings will open.

Move the slider at Allow from this source to the right so that the installation can be performed.
Go back to the installation via the blue arrow.

If you want to buy a license key first at this point, tap Purchase a license key now and follow the further instructions. Then return to this screen, enter the license key and the required data and tap on Activate.
If you already have a valid license key, enter the key as well as the required data and tap on Activate.

If you have entered your name and email address here, you will then receive access data by email. With the help of these access data, you can use the license more freely. For example, by deactivating the license on the device and activating it on another device. You can find out how to do this in this instruction.
